Why planning for 2019 is a MUST!

2019 is soon approaching and many of us can say that 2018 was a rough year. While we are anticipating for this new year to be better than the last, it is imperative that we take a few hours of our time to plan for 2019. I know that nothing goes according to plan but that should never hinder you from creating one. Even The Word encourages us to write down our vision in Habakuk 2:2 which says, "And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it"(KJV).

When I look back at 2018, I can certainly say that I went into the year anticipating greater yet I never delivered greatness. Sure I spoke positive and empowering words but I did not create a blue print of what to do with it. So I quickly found myself stagnant and going around in circles after February. It was not because I disliked blogging and speaking, it was because I did not invest time in mapping out how I could expand and grow in it. Not only did my lack of planning impact my purpose and gift, it seeped into various areas of my personal life.

Therefore, I strongly encourage you to take some time in the last few days to jot down a plan and some goals for 2019 as it relates to your finances,  health, wellness, faith, career, education and  purpose/gift. There is something powerful that happens when you write down those goals and plans. The letters become your accountability and GPS in life and that is crucial when trying to decide a yes from a no when certain opportunities arise.

Please keep in mind that there is no one and clear cut way with going about this. What may work for "Susan" may not work for "Jillian" and vice versa. So if you find that planning for the entire year in one sitting is a bit overwhelming, try out a different approach. Personally, I have found that planning a month in advance to be helpful and less stressful. It has allowed me to look at 2019 with an intentional perspective! Also, I strongly encourage you to not share your vision and plans with just anyone. You have to guard your vision like you guard your heart!

I want to leave you with this final thought in mind: If the greatest buildings and sculptures are first planned out as a blue print prior to its construction; why can't the same be for you!  I truly do believe that planning NOW for 2019 is a wise decision that your December 2019 self will greatly thank you for!
